How to Remove Fear From Your Mind About Outside Judgment

We all have things we’re afraid of. Spiders. Clowns. Public speaking. But for many women, the thing we’re most afraid of is judgment from others. This insecurity can prevent us from doing things we really want to do, like posing for a boudoir shoot. In this post, I’m going to teach you how to remove fear from your mind and conquer that feeling of insecurity. So read on, fearless women!

“My biggest fear was the judgement I would feel from my family.”

I’m sure that’s a feeling many of you face, and Miss J shared those same sentiments with us after her session. She continued, “I grew up in a pretty conservative family when it comes to showing your body and self-love. However, my sisters supported it in the end. My mom still hasn’t seen the pictures but she did ask me what “did you do to your eyelashes” when I came home with false lashes on. She is from a different time, and I try to keep that in mind. It’s interesting going from being a tomboy as a child and growing into a queen as an adult.

I finally realized I needed to remove fear of their judgment and do things for myself and no one else.

This experience made me realize there is not just one cookie-cutter version of sexy. During the shoot, I realized that knowing who you are is sexier than anything. My intelligence, my self-worth is so much sexier than the unrealistic standard of beauty we have been programmed to believe our entire lives. I understand that in the media they are moving slowly toward all shapes, colors, sizes, genders being more seen in the media, but it is 2021. We need this positive reinforcement now for the younger generation. As an aunt, I always want to set a body-positive standard for my nieces and even my little nephews. Everyone is beautiful and unique in their own way and a magazine or the keyboard warriors of the internet need to take a seat and read the room.

The time to love your body is now.

Your body gives you life. Your body wakes you up every day. 5, 10, 20 lbs is not an excuse. I did this at my heaviest weight and I am glad I did. You see yourself through someone else’s eyes other than your own. Honestly, seeing yourself from a different perspective is quite exhilarating.”
