Hello everyone! My name is Ashley (she/her) and I am so excited to be a part of this portrait experience with you. I am the owner and photographer at Simply Lush Portrait Boutique. I am from Northeastern PA and have been immersed in portraiture since 2005 (16 years!) and 8 of those years in boudoir portraiture. I opened Simply Lush as my full-time career in 2015, 6 years ago. I absolutely love what I do and what a fascinating journey it has been!
I have always used art to express myself as a child and discovered the magic of photography in my high school darkroom and never looked back. I always say my passion grew in the darkroom and it hasn’t stopped since. I use portraiture as a medium to expand my knowledge and drive my artistic direction. I’ve spent the last couple of years sharpening my skills through retreats, workshops, and self-discovery.
I am married to my wonderful, supportive husband Mark and we can’t wait to begin a family that doesn’t have fur (haha!). I love tarot and new/full moon rituals to focus on meditation and self-reflection. I also love pole fitness and anything that helps me feel confident!
Why boudoir? When I learned about it, I fell in love AGAIN. I have always stood for human and womxn rights as a young punk rock femme and always enjoyed empowering others. I grew up with a vibrant younger sister and a loving and hard-working single mother whose emotional exhaustion, lack of confidence, and pain I witnessed first-hand. As an adolescent, I ended up in bad relationships because I didn’t think I was worth anything more, or didn’t know what else to expect. I strive to be a story-teller and a believer in the power of vulnerability. My soul and love for photographing women of all ages, colors, sizes, and body types resonates deep through a personal journey of uncovering my own beauty, confidence, and self-awareness.
Every woman that comes to me has a struggle of her own. Whether it is physical or mental, these women trust me and open up to me during their session and it truly makes it a transformative experience. Sometimes I jokingly call it therapy as you witness your personal revolution, but I think any of my clients (especially our annual babes) can absolutely agree.
This inspired me to focus more on the “why” within my art and photography. Intimate portraiture isn’t only about sexy photos or giving a gift to someone. It has nothing to do with vanity.
So what is it about?
It’s about you. How you got here. Celebrating your strength. It’s art and appreciating your unique journey. Every woman that comes to me has a struggle of her own. Whether it is physical or mental, these women trust me and open up to me during their session and it truly makes it a transformative experience.
Sometimes I jokingly call it therapy, but it’s true and I think any of my clients (especially our annual babes) can absolutely agree.
I look forward to giving you the best experience ever!
